When exploring the pool rehabilitation, the Nittany Valley Joint Recreation Authority started with a mandate; secure funds and make the facility better than what it was. The Authority began the project with these principles in mind:
Make the facility current with modern expectations
Use high quality components to increase the lifespan and reduce upkeep expenses
Install a children's wading pool
Add additional pool amenities
Improve ADA access
Reduce energy consumption
Reduce water consumption
Finalize funding and kick-off community fundraising campaign
Formalize designs and gain approval
Create and advertise request for bids
Primary construction - update main pool and mechanicals
Partial swimming season
Secondary construction - install wading pool, update bath house, and perform site and ADA improvements
Finalize secondary construction
Add extra amenities as budget allows
Full season opening
The site will include the addition of ADA parking spaces and an updated ramp to the facility, along with an ADA facility entrance and ADA bathrooms.
The facility perimeter will be expanded and security fencing will be updated.
